Join the brilliant Howard Middleton (GBBO series 4) live from Sheffield, UK who will teach you the skills you need to master his delicious Chocolate Tiffin, a treat believed to be a favourite of Her Majesty, the late Queen, Elizabeth II.
The class starts at 9am PT / 11am CT / 12pm ET / 5pm UK on Saturday 17th September 2022 and will take around one hour. This will give you a sample of what a full length class with Bake With A Legend entails whilst making a delicious treat. This one, will be great for all the family. Do invite all your friends and family to sign up - it's completely FREE.
All you need is access to Zoom via a computer, an iPad or a phone and you'll be connected! We’ll start off the class with an introductory welcome and some background from Howard's time on TV, before we ask you to put on your aprons & bake along as you watch Howard demonstrate all the skills required to make this favourite treat of his.
Please note this class will be taught in a webinar format and will likely have several hundred people joining us, unlike our normal classes, which are restricted to around twenty. Registration is essential and the only way to get an invite link to this class.
For this class you will need:
Equipment:
Square or round cake tin – about 15-20cm (6-8in)
Baking parchment
Saucepans
Flat baking sheet/tray
Round cookie cutter
Mixing bowl
Rolling pin
Sieve
Wire cooling rack
Ingredients:
For the Rich Tea biscuits:
150g (1 cup + 2 tbsp) plain/all-purpose flour
½ tsp baking powder
2 tbsp milk
60g (4 tbsp + 1 tsp) cold unsalted butter, cubed
40g (1/3 cup) icing/powdered sugar
½ tsp vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste
A pinch of salt
For the filling:
100g (approx. 2/3 cup) dark or milk chocolate
50g-100g (2-4 heaped tbsp) golden/corn syrup
About 225g of the baked Rich Tea biscuits above, broken but not crushed
100g (7 tbsp) unsalted butter
100g (approx. 2/3 to 3/4 cup) glacé cherries, raisins, mixed candied peel or nuts (optional)
For the ganache topping:
100ml (just under ½ cup) double/heavy cream
100g (approx. 2/3 cup) dark or milk chocolate, chopped
Grated chocolate or chocolate curls to decorate (optional)
